Camper loses control on icy highway

VIDEO DESCRIPTION

During a snowy, icy winter storm, a camper drives down a rural highway. As a large truck approaches the camper loses control on the ice and skids across lanes to the side, crashing while the driver and a child react to the scene. The driver of the camper explained, "We were traveling full time in our RV at the time. We were leaving Capitol Reef National Park and heading to St George, Utah to be in warmer weather. We didn't see any snow in the forecast for the time we would be traveling. The storm came in quickly and within maybe 10 minutes, started to stick to the ground. I tried slowing down by tapping my brakes, which you can see in the video. Then the trailer hit ice and because it's so heavy, pushed the truck with it into the side of the mountain. Had it happened on the next curve, we may have slid onto the railing on the cliff side of the road. In the truck was myself, my son and our dog. The video is from the dashcam on my Jeep, which my wife was driving with our daughter. Fortunately there weren't any injuries. Everyone was just a little shaken up."
